Introducing ARC: Steelcase Applied Research & Consulting

Steelcase ARC (Applied Research & Consulting) is a specialist global Steelcase consultancy focused on work and the workplace, which aims to help clients solve work and workplace issues and achieve greater business results. ARC has worked with public and private organizations around the world, from firms with fewer than a hundred employees to multinationals with hundreds of thousands of staff. Steelcase ARC is now offering its services in the AP region. To introduce its services, John Hughes of Steelcase ARC is visited the AP region in late June and early July to meet with major Steelcase ARC clients and to give a series of seminars on current trends, issues and solutions in the evolution of the workplace.

With a combination of applied research, expertise and experience that no one else can match, ARC works with each client to link the three key drivers of its people, technology, and real estate, with the organization's work processes. How well these assets are linked ultimately determines the company's business results.

Research-Based Insight
Applying Steelcase's leadership in research on work and the workplace gives ARC unparalleled knowledge about the work environment and how to leverage it for optimum results.

Multi-Discipline Expertise
ARC team members have diverse, distinctive expertise, enabling it to precisely pair expertise and experience with client needs.

User Engagement
The ARC approach incorporates deep, user-centered engagement across the client organization. Applying an Ask, Observe, Experience methodology, they ask questions, observe work processes, and guide users through experiences that reveal hidden needs and create better solutions. The result is more meaningful insights, greater organizational buy-in, and more effective implementation of a workplace strategy.

ARC's unique capabilities and proprietary methodology can help a company leverage their work environment to refine, redefine, or even transform their organization. Its Work Environment Strategy establishes a plan for the organization's work environment that links people, space, technology and work processes to measurably improve business results. Depending on the company's needs, specific modules are used, including:

  • Change/Transition Management
  • Design Strategy
  • Real Estate Strategy
  • Measurement Strategy
  • Standards Development
  • Network Analysis
  • Organizational Culture Assessment
  • Alternative Work Strategies
  • Workplace Piloting
  • Business Case
